MINUTES
January 16, 2007

The regular meeting of the village board meeting opened at 7:00 p.m., Mayor K. Don Brigham presiding. In attendance were Trustees Louis A. Guido and Jeffrey S. Stiles, Clerk-Treasurer Dorothy E. Johnson, Superintendent Kelly J. Wright, and Otsego Co. Rep. Philip Durkin.

MINUTES

The first item on the agenda was the approval of the minutes, as sent to all board members in written form. It was upon motion of Trustee Stiles, seconded by Trustee Guido and unanimously carried,
RESOLVED, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and approve as written.

It was upon motion of Trustee Stiles, seconded by Trustee Guido, unanimously carried,
RESOLVED, to accept the report as read.

OTSEGO COUNTY REP. REPORT

County Representative Phil Durkin gave a report on the county’s recent budget and tax rate as there was an error in the budget. He said at this time, they may be refunding tax payers for the overage they paid.
He also said that some of the tourism funding had been cut, though he Cherry Valley tourist building project will still get funding as they have already shown progress.

PATHWAY – To Alden Field

Nothing to report.

LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVE FUNDS – Rebekah Lodge

The work has been completed and the Clerk will apply for re-imbursement of the remainder of the cost.

VILLAGE HALL – FURNACE

It was decided that the furnace in the village hall needs to be replaced. The Clerk got a verbal quote from Phil Ford of $2,200 to $2,300. It was decided by the board that the Clerk should get written quotes from at least three people. It was also decided that the furnace must be raised on a concrete slab.

MONTGOMERY STREET – Pavement

Mayor Brigham reported the pavement on Montgomery Street still has some loose stone but it is not a big problem. It will be cleaned up in the spring.

WATER BILL – CATHOLIC CHURCH

Karen Walker, Parish Life Associate of St. Thomas Catholic Church wrote a letter requesting a reduction on their water bill. The bill was in the amount of $1,684.98. Mrs. Walker explained that the water had been leaking from a pipe from the church leading to Kateri Hall. It had been dug up already and they thought the leak(s) were repaired. Superintendent Wright had previously met with her, a plumber, and someone to dig the area up. The request was for the village to write off $484.98, allow her to pay $750.00 now and the remaining $450.00 with the next (July) bill.
After discussion, it was upon motion of Trustee Guido, seconded by Trustee Stiles, unanimously carried to accept Mrs. Walker’s proposal.
DPW REPORT

Superintendent Wright said he will be attending the meeting of the flood map updates at the Manor on Tuesday.

CEMETERY DEED SELL BACK/MARKERS

After discussion, it was upon motion of Trustee Guido, seconded by Trustee Stiles, unanimously carried,
When the village purchases a cemetery lot back from a person, the cost they paid for markers will not be included in the refund. The person gets the amount they originally paid for the lot, only.

AUDIT OF CLAIMS

After review by the board, it was upon motion of Trustee Guido, seconded Trustee Stiles, unanimously carried,
Resolved, to make payment on bills, transfer appropriations, and amend the budget as follows:
